We’ve serviced thousands of residential roofs here at Renowned Building Solutions. We firmly believe that no two jobs are the same. Since we’ve repaired so many residential roofs, it was tough to think of one that really stuck out. However, the story below resulted in a happy ending for everyone and shows what we value as a company.
We were repairing a roof in Woodstock, IL, a few years ago when something unexpected happened. During the job, we decided to canvas a nearby house whose roof appeared damaged. Our team knocked on the door and was introduced to a woman named Laura, an elderly woman in her 80s.
Laura explained to them that she was aware of the leak in her roof. Yet, she didn’t have the money to do anything about it. We weren’t going to let that stand. Renowned Building Solutions eventually got her insurance company to pay $30,000 for a new roof so Laura could peacefully live out the rest of her days.
We think about this story often because it feels good to know we helped someone in need. Sure, on paper, we just repaired a roof. However, to us, we improved someone’s quality of life. This is just one reason we believe we’re the best Chicago roofing company.

Here at Renowned Building Solutions, we also repair commercial roofs. We can’t tell you how often a business owner has called us in need of an urgent repair. However, there’s one story regarding commercial roofing that we’ll never forget.
A few years ago, a rundown church was planning an event to celebrate its 80th anniversary. What should’ve been a joyous time was made stressful because the church needed substantial repairs, and they fought the insurance companies for months.
Enter Renowned Building Solutions! Our team of the best roofers in Chicago was able to replace the siding and roof in a couple of days, and the event went off without a hitch! We were actually invited to partake in the festivities. Stories like this remind us why we do what we do. Every church member was incredibly grateful, and we made a true difference.

Our owner and CEO, Steve Staley started Renowned Building Solutions on April 8th, 2014. How in the world does he remember the exact day, you ask? Well, 1 ½ days after Steve posted his first Facebook post for the business, McHenry County experienced one of the worst hailstorms in the area’s history.
Steve remembers everything going from 0 to 100. Renowned Building Solutions helped with tarping services, torn-off shingles, and insurance claim processes. Over the course of a few months, we repaired over 40 houses in Lake in the Woods, Woodstock, Barrington, etc. People appreciated everything we did; our guidance through the insurance claim process was praised by many.
Every modern-day Chicago roofing contractor should know how to ease people’s anxieties through this process. In 2014, we helped people who had to wait for appointments, undergo inspections and sort through multiple estimates. Homeowners were thankful to have a steady partner through challenging times.
Adapting When Necessary
Anything can go wrong in construction; you should be ready for anything. As a result, there have been many times we’ve had to adapt when things didn’t go as planned. One case is seared into our minds as one of the most difficult projects we ever took on.
One time, a team member’s foot fell through the roof during a roof repair in Chicago. This incident was a blessing in disguise because we uncovered that the entire house was constructed wrong, and asbestos was everywhere. Yikes!
A large tarp had to be placed over the entire house. All the homeowners’ personal items were packed away, and she was forced to live in an apartment for three months. We handled everything from the start—we coordinated the packing, made sure the whole house was tarped and booked every necessary inspection. We handled it as if it was our own house.

In this case, we learned that if the worst happens, we can handle it. What was believed to be a simple project at first turned into a 6-month ordeal that cost over $150,000. Now, our client is so happy we were there to help and is happily living in a practically new house.
